Chrissy Callas was a ceramist born in Orange, New Jersey. Her work consisted of small, intimate pieces that are sensitive and highly emotional. Largely her work is representational with both rough and glazed surfaces reflecting inner conflict and isolation. On her work she stated “I use clay to exploit Man’s conflicts, frailty, muscle, and wit; Art imitating real life from chunks of clay. The speaks for itself, you either get it, or you don’t.” Her work has been shown in exhibitions across the country and is well received for its depth of expression.
