Mitsuru Isezaki is a ceramist based in Bizen, Japan. He fires his work in wood fire kilns and is famous for his goma “sesame seed” natural ash glaze. Isezaki went to Okayama University where he studied sculpture. In 1957, he began to seriously focus on ceramics and is a member of Nihon Kogei Kai, the Japan Association for Arts and Crafts. His work has been exhibited in museums, galleries, and collections across the world and is a celebrated figure in contemporary ceramics.
