Sandy Lockwood was immediately attracted to the raw and tactile experience of working with clay. In 1975, She started working in a production studio and eventually continued her training at East Sydney Technical College. She works in wood fired lsaltglazed ceramics in the Southern Highlands. Her work draws the parallels between the flow and weathering of nature and the process of wood firing and salt glazing. The vessel become a testament to the movement and stillness of the natural world through the firing process. Since 1980, She has been a full time artist and part time teacher. She has taught workshops and exhibited work across the globe.
